As a kitchen porter you will assist the kitchen team and maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen.
Your day-to-day duties may involve:
• clearing and cleaning the kitchen surfaces
• food preparation
• disposing of food waste
The kitchen porter has the important role of supporting the cooks and chefs perform their day-to-day tasks. As kitchen porter you will ensure that the kitchen and restaurant has adequate supplies of clean utensils and equipment, and you must also complete cleaning duties.
The kitchen porter must adhere to strict health and safety procedures by using cleaning materials correctly and assessing hygiene standards. Occasionally the kitchen porter will also help the chefs prepare the food. Good listening and communication skills are vital, as the kitchen porter will follow instructions from every team member in the restaurant.
