Duty Mgr/ Team Leader – Visitor Attractions

Also known as: Team leader positions in Retail, Food and Beverage, Maintenance, Operations, Rides etc

As a duty manager it is your duty to supervise the front line staff, allocating them tasks, and demonstrating excellent customer service and team work. As a duty manger you will supervise many types of front line staff, from food and beverage team members to actors and actresses.

Your day-to-day duties may involve:
• holding team meetings and briefings
• allocating tasks to the front line staff
• training staff
• advising  guests about activities taking place
• entertaining guests as an actor or actress

Your aim is to create a positive experience for the visitor, whether it’s through great customer service at the till point or staying in character while entertaining the guests. You will ensure your department is running smoothly, and regularly assess health and safety standards to make sure the workplace is safe.

The duty manager’s role is practical and they are expected to support the front line staff with day-to-day tasks. They must have excellent knowledge of all areas within the attraction as they will advise visitors about activities taking place in other departments. The duty manager may initiate promotional activity to maximise sales and increase visitor awareness. As the role is public-facing, a helpful and friendly nature is essential.

As a duty manager great interpersonal skills are essential to motivating the front line staff.
