Temp. Structures Constructor – Events

Also known as: Technician, Rigger, Erector, Techical Support Crew

As a temporary structures constructor or technician you will prepare the equipment and build temporary structures for events. Temporary structures are tents, stages, stands, lighting and electricity.

Your day-to-day duties may involve:
• liaising with clients
• preparing lighting and structures to build
• building temporary structures
• dismantling temporary structures
• checking health and safety regulations

Temporary structures are used for all types of events. They are used for exhibitors to showcase their products, at music festivals to hold thousands of people, and at banquets to shade guests from the weather.

As a temporary structures constructor it’s your responsibility to design, build and dismantle temporary structures, and oversee the health and safety during these procedures. Depending on your experience you may allocate tasks to team members and monitor the progress and quality of the structures.

Constructors must be aware of health and safety procedures.
